The repair tissue in chair cushions, how to get wood cleats?

I'm trying to get my old fabric cushions of the chair and there are hundreds of commodities in the wood at the bottom of the chair. How do you get the staples of the wood? Some of the commodities are flush tight and difficult to handle anything below them. After much blood and many curse words, I need some advice. Is there a tool for this?

You could try a punch that is just a sharp pointed instrument with a handle on it. You may have to tap lightly with a hammer for driving under the staple and pry. If you do not have a stylus, a good sized nail might work. Try driving under the staple at an angle. I would suggest using some safety glasses as you may end up with staples flying in the air and do not want to get one in the eye.
