During a break from my studies of Aromatherapy in London, I went on a trip with my girlfriend to Egypt. Iâ € ™ d always been fascinated with the culture of the Old Egypt and impressed by their diverse knowledge and documented use of essential oils. Not only were the origin and essential oils used for sensual pleasure imparted through of perfumery, capital also played a part in the ceremonial worship and the health and general welfare. To my surprise, I was about to discover how an ingenious few essential oils can be.
We arrived at Cairo airport in the early hours of the morning excited and apprehensive about our new adventure. Little is known about botched taxi drivers in Cairo. That didnâ € ™ t help that the only directions we had for our accommodation is outside the â € ~ € ™ date Lonely Planet guide. An hour's drive Hap Hazard and we finally arrived at a place that the driver, very convincingly, we said it was paradise! Yes, of course …
Now I know for a fact that the ancient Egyptians took seriously cleaning. There are even old records of a recipe of essential oil deodorant dating from 1500BC. For the Egyptians who were quite decadent, bathing more than once a day in different temperature baths with scented oils was one of a series beauty rituals to improve. But of course that was ancient Egypt, which in comparison to bare little resemblance to our â € ~ Paradisea € ™ Accommodation in modern Cairo. Cleanliness was obviously not a priority, not by any means € | no sir! Anyway we were exhausted and decided to stay independent. After a tiring day, so expect a night's sleep only to find that our beds bed mites reveal another not so pleasant surprise â € | Aghhh!
Fortunately, I brought some essential oils on the trip and took my bottle of confidence (antiseptic, insecticidal, fungicidal, deodorant, sedatives) French Lavender essential oil and put some drops in some tissues we have placed strategically on the bed. Mummies of Egypt had the right idea, ritually embalmed in frankincense and myrrh and tightly wrapped in bandagesâ € | no and nothing comes out.
Essential oils are a must when traveling. Fortunately for a little forethought we have survived to share the train with farm animals, crowded bus rides with the drivers and the need to say almost nothing crazy in the desert by Camel € |. but thata € ™ s another story.
Its essential oil travel kit should contain: lavender, chamomile, geranium, mint, ginger, tea tree and thyme.
